Ahoy, fellow cannabis enthusiasts! Today, we’re embarking on a culinary voyage to create the legendary Pot Butter. Whether you’re a seasoned green chef or a budding pot-pioneer, this recipe will elevate your cooking game to new heights.
But first, a word of wisdom: consuming cannabis-infused butter can be a potent experience. Know your limits, and always sail responsibly. And donβt forget to check out our Edibles Dosage Calculator. All we need is some details on your recipe (and your bud) and weβll instantly (and magically) calculate the potency and THC content of your homemade edibles!
Now, let’s get cookin’!
Ingredients
1 cup -2 sticks- of unsalted butter. Check out our Easy Infused Oil Recipe if oils are more your thing.
7 to 10 grams of your favorite cannabis flower (for beginners, start with 7 grams; experienced folks can go up to 10 grams)
Instructions
1. Grind Your Goods:
Grind your cannabis finely, but not to dust.
2. Activate the Cannabinoids:
To activate the THC, preheat your oven to 245Β°F (approximately 120Β°C).
Spread your ground cannabis on a baking sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes. This step is crucial; it decarbs thca to the psychoactive thc that we all know and love! (For an in-depth explanation of decarboxylation & more info on thca, check out our article ‘Decoding The Science: What Is THCA?’.)
3. Melt Your Butter:
In a saucepan, melt your butter on low heat. Low and slow, my friends.
4. Mix in the Magic:
Add your decarbed cannabis to the melted butter. Stir it well. Let the infusion begin!
5. Simmer & Infuse:
Let your mixture simmer on low heat for 2-3 hours. Stir occasionally and keep a watchful eye; we don’t want any accidental fires on this voyage.
6. Strain and Store:
Using a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain out the marijuana bits. Squeeze every drop you can from the plant material. Your pot-butter is ready!
Dosage Information
Visit our Edibles Dosage Calculator where you can get an approximate THC content and potency for your homemade edibles.
Start low and go slow: For beginners, try 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of pot-butter in your recipe.
For experienced sailors, you can go up to 1-2 tablespoons.
Wait at least 1-2 hours before consuming more. The high seas can be unpredictable!
